IDEA Clubs begin at Franciscan University of Steubenville in Steubenville, Ohio - March 12, 2004

Franciscan University of SteubenvilleAs of March 12, 2004, an IDEA Club has been founded on the Franciscan University of Steubenville, in Steubenville, Ohio. The IDEA Center is excited to see this club established because it is the first IDEA Club founded at a Catholic University. The IDEA Center hopes that people of many Christian denominations and religious beliefs will realize that intelligent design is an empirical theory of origins which operates independently of one's view of theology or even the identity of the designer. We are pleased to see this club founded by a very enthusiastic Catholic student at this Catholic University.

The founding of this IDEA Club in Ohio comes only a few days after the Ohio State Board of Education voted to permit criticisms of Darwin's theory in the science classroom. The IDEA Center applauds these badly-needed improvements in science curricula, and are pleased to see this IDEA Club also come to the state of Ohio.
